Some studios take people who just got sony vegas or are inexperienced at video editing and let them join the studio while teaching them how to be an awesome editor.

Would this studio do that?

Actually I just downloaded Sony Vegas 9 and I looked at some tutorials... then went back to Vegas and thought WTF? then smashed my head on the desk multiple times.

Repeat this vicious cycle and you've got my experience with Sony Vegas 9.0.

I do really want to learn though or else I wouldn't have downloaded it. Smile

Any help is much appreciated.

Honestly, it's practically like WMM. It's not that complicated. You drag and drop your clips on the time line, align them however you want, and voila, you did it!

But really, I'm guessing most of us learned the basics by ourselves, so that means you can too!

The only real advice other than practice I can give you would be not to set the bar of your first Vegas video to high, or compare it to another video, that'll bring yourself down because it won't be that good, unless you're some sort of genius when it comes to this stuff haha.

But for the actual challenge, I'm interested but I'm not sure if I'll join. I'm starting my first year of Univeristy in two weeks so I gotta get everything set and organized D:

Ahhh yes i know how you feel trust me XDD the only reason i jumped to vegas was my wmm crashed...i looked at vegas and was just @__@ but no worries well help you out XDD we all had help somewhere alng the way XD just link me your channel and ill help out 8D

ya i was the same way, i used wmm alot but then some of my friends pushed me into it and i tried it once...then didnt open it again for another 3 weeks. but heres a basic tip that helped me to actually start using it, you split a clip by pressing "s"

Yeah I never took the time to learn vegas. I'm using corel video studio which I'm sure is alot more headache than its worth. Still. im pleased with my final products at the moment so I guess it doesnt matter. Masking looks really really really really cool though Sad

ahhhh masking...its so cool, yet so amazingly tedious and annoying XDD i first used vegas for like an hour...turned it off...stopped editing for about a month...then was like..ok gotta try again. then pumped out this after afew days of practice

You gotta know Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 is friggin anyonning, the new effects are like ultra lame and it always crashes (maybe it's just mine comp cause it's like 10 years old) but the masking at sony vegas pro 9.0 always crashes D=
Too bad i'm too lazy to download another vegas xD , btw is the program adobe premier good?

I'm excited to try it out some more... One more question though. Why is it that when I open an .mp4 file in the trimmer it goes wacko; lagging and speaking in slow mo. Does that happen with all files or just .mp4? Is there some magic setting I'm supposed to have my video on when in trimmer?

The videos I have on there now are from iMovie and there are no AMVs because iMovie is EXTREMELY picky when it comes to video files that it accepts. It only uses .MPEG, so I have to convert everything and it takes such a long time that I just gave up on it. DX

ok first off...vegas does NOT accept mp4 format vids XDD it will crash...and you will get angry XDD you need mpeg or avi would be best. try and find those format clips.

ahhh ok well thats fine ^^ ill keep an eyes out for future vids. but yeah your gunna have to accept that your gunna have to convert allot of clips..allot of the best quality vids are in mp4 and you neeed to convert to avi ( i just today got over this masive wall by aquiring a pretty badass converter) but its what has to be done unfortunately.

When it comes to converting and such I don't particularly mind as much on the laptop than the mac. I can keep my laptop in my room whereas Mac is stationary. I spend way more time on the laptop anyway, so it most likely won't bother me as much. *blabbing*

Anyway, what is this badass converter you speak of?

Well personally I don't like using converters, as they lower the quality of the original source. Some less than others, but I like to do it a different way. It's longer and it takes up so much more HDD space too.

I just make a .avs file that would open the .mp4/.mkv file in VDubMod. Then export it out as a .avi with a different codec that would work in Vegas, like huffyuv and lagarith. Much, much longer process, but atleast the quality of the clips won't go down

It's a set of programs that could be essential to editing. It depends really, if you have lots of .avi files, then just using FourCC could always work, but if a lot of your sources, like mine, are in .mp4, .mkv, or other formats editing software won't accept, than those programs will help.

Ok I'm back... internet was not working the first couple of days, but no I'm back haha.
