AMVs that annoy me

How about how lately a lot of editors have like all these videos that are only 10-30 seconds long? I can't even count how many times i've checked out a person's channel and seen that his longest video is like 45 seconds or something and he has around 20 or more of these damn things. I can't stand seeing these videos where it's like "Look I made this 10 second video of ichigo fighting grimmjow; I used AE and isn't my masking, transitions and color corrections perfect? Just don't f**king blink or your gonna miss the whole god damn thing!!" they don't actually say that but that is how i imagine it lol; now actually I think a lot of the ones I see are cool but why can't they expand on it anymore? I remember when those kind of videos were called BETAs and they planned on finishing them one day. Now all I see in the titles are Bored/Fail (which also annoys me). I have a lot of buddies on youtube that do this too but at least they actually do make full amvs as well... sometimes, and i'm sure some of you make this as well. And I know some people are too busy to work on a full amv and that's great and all but that doesn't mean they can't hold on to a project and work on it every once and awhile. It's like everyone is scared and don't want to spend a lot of time on an amv because everybody might not like it so they make this short ones and say "I was bored" or "fail" to save themselves from any negative comments and use those as excuses. I don't wanna sound mean I just like to see people who say they were inspired or the video was planned out and see that they worked really hard on it, because those are the videos that will stick with you and maybe also inspire you as well. Not "I made this in 30 mins, ha ha "

And that concludes my rant... haha

To be honest its slowly becoming the norm on Youtube. A lot of people edit those short vids more or less just as "boredom betas" for lack of a better term.

I tend to do this when I'm not editing for a Con. Mostly because college, work and life get in the way of editing. If I try to edit a long project and don't edit it for awhile. I lose interest. That's why I usually finish my full vids at most a month after I start it. Otherwise it will just sit on my hard drive for eternity haha

I know what you mean man i'm in college too so at times when I know I won't be able to finish an amv for however many days or weeks I usually will stop listening to the song i'm using so I won't get bored of it lol.

I just make sure that all the amvs I plan out are ones that I have a strong interest in and want/have to complete, if I feel I might grow bored of them or I can think of something better I drop them. I want to make sure that all my amvs are entertaining and will get people to watch an anime I really like. Even if only one person says they will watch it now, I still count that as a success. :3

And if you guys figure out a way to talk/complain about short amvs on a podcast I would be so happy haha.

that was part of my plan...but im pretty much a FULL TIME beta vid maker...work, school, my home life. i really dont have much time to deote to fulls...like...ive had this one eva full in the works now for...weeeeeks and only have like...10 secs donw XD

Lol i've had that happen before because every time I tried to work on it I would just end up watching the part i've already finished over and over again because I liked it so much.

I do that because I tend to get really lazy. I've been trying to extend my editing time though. Sorry about the annoyance coming from one of THOSE people.

I used to only make full amv's, then it got tougher as I got better because I would spend more time on it, and in the end would lose interest. Now I'm just not editing! but thats only because I don't have windows yet, but I will get it soon!

I used to do that shit until I realized...wow I'm annoying myself and this is disappointing that I cannot get a full done! Which is when I pushed Reminiscence XD And See You is my longest since wmm days... Yeah people can do that flashy effect stuff and coolness but I'd like to see them challenge themselves and actually fulfill a full video or they are completely failing period... how bout we just start a wmm trend again? XD

I have a mac so closest thing I used to wmm was imovie lol.

But I like my 30 second vids D:
I lose inspiration fast so its a little hard for me to make a full without rushing it
Not to mention I can't find interesting songs

only made 2 fulls out of all my vids together

I use vids of that shortness as practice. I prefer to put out 40 or so 30-sec vids a year and 2 or 3 fulls and use the 30-secs as experiments (hard cuts, fades, effects, action sync, etc....) than put out 20 fulls of subpar quality.

I'm not saying short amvs are wrong, i'm just saying "to me" it's annoying when that's all I see on a person's channel.

I am far more impressed when I see a really really good full amv than when I see a really really good 30 sec amv.

I might just because I saw the transition from full amvs to these fail/bored amvs over the years and was going "no... no... NO NO NOOO!!!" haha

I feel the same way, it actually feels hypocritical of me though because I tend to make those short videos. Maybe that's why I hate my own videos?

i can't deny's i've made some short videos, but that's either cause that's as far as my idea went or I lost all inspiration i had for that amv, though i know i made 2 amvs simply cause i was bored, thought one i actually put effort into... but i know what ya mean, i see a ton of small tiny AMVs hitting the field today, where it was cool as hell, but not long enough for you to get into it... its saddening...
